'Honey ... It's Time!'

Before you know it, the big day will be here. When you come to the Birthing Center of South Texas at McAllen Medical Center to deliver your baby, make sure you've packed the appropriate necessities for your stay.

For you

  • Your health insurance card, driver's license or ID and other pertinent information
  • A bathrobe and nightgowns, pajamas or T-shirts and sweatpants (remember to pack loose-fitting clothes for the ride home)
  • Several pairs of underpants
  • Socks and slippers
  • Self-adhesive sanitary pads
  • Washcloths and towels
  • Toiletries, including soap, shampoo and toothpaste
  • Cosmetics and hairstyling products
  • Phone numbers of people to tell the good news

For your baby
To bring your baby home comfortably and safely, you'll need to pack and bring along:

  • Clothes, including an undershirt, cap and socks
  • Receiving blanket
  • Diapers
  • A properly installed car seat
