How big is your baby at 16 weeks gestation? When can your unborn baby hear you talk? Is breast-feeding really better for your baby? When will your newborn start sleeping through the night, crawling or sitting up?

If you're like many expectant or new parents, you have lots of questions about what to do and what to expect during your pregnancy and your baby's first year of life.

Information about your pregnancy and your baby's early development is just a click away. South Texas Health System has a new Web-based interactive communication system, called The Parent ReviewTM, which can provide you with relevant and timely information during this exciting time in your life.

What to expect
While you're pregnant, you'll receive online weekly newsletters that correspond to your gestational week. The information helps you follow your unborn baby's development and provides helpful hints for staying as healthy as possible during specific stages of your pregnancy. You'll also periodically receive newsletters during your baby's first year of life that feature news and advice based on your baby's age.

In addition to online newsletters, you'll receive other useful benefits when you sign up for this free and innovative program.

"The Parent ReviewTM has links that let patients communicate electronically with the staff at McAllen Medical Center's Birthing Center of South Texas, where they'll deliver their babies," says Laura Cortez, RN, Director of Antepartum, Labor and Delivery at McAllen Medical Center. "Patients can ask questions about their pregnancies or upcoming hospitalizations. And The Parent ReviewTM allows patients to register for childbirth education and parenting classes, or schedule a tour of the Birthing Center of South Texas online at their convenience."

The Parent ReviewTM is a tool you can use to make more informed and healthy choices for yourself and your baby. Visit www.southtexashealthsystem.com and register today.
