High Marks in Trauma Care McAllen Medical Center has received high marks in a recent trauma survey by the Texas Department of State Health Services. McAllen Medical Center also has earned a three-year renewal of its Level III Advanced Trauma status. This signifies that McAllen Medical Center has consistently met rigorous criteria set by state and federal organizations.

As the lead Level III Advanced Trauma facility in Hidalgo County, the Emergency Department staff at McAllen Medical Center is ready day and night to respond quickly when patients require immediate trauma surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery or other surgery.

McAllen Medical Center is one of 40 Level III Advanced Trauma facilities in the state. Level III hospitals must reapply for trauma designation every three years.
