The McAllen Family Medicine Residency Program is helping to bring a new generation of trained doctors to the area. This three-year physician training residency program, sponsored by McAllen Medical Center and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, helps residents get hands-on training as they make rounds at McAllen Medical Center and area clinics. Residents are involved in preventive and medical care, pediatric services, obstetric care and more. For example, they help:
  • Provide prenatal care
  • Manage high-risk pregnancies
  • Deliver babies
  • Provide routine and complex care to children, adults and seniors
  • Offer outpatient and preventive care services to families at McAllen Medical Center
